Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, was born in 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio. His father was a Mexican painter and his mother was an African American choir teacher. At the age of 11, his father passed away from cancer, which had a significant impact on his life and music.
He attended Shaker Heights High School and later Solon High School before spending a year at the University of Toledo, which he eventually dropped out of. Cudi began writing and rapping in high school, inspired by groups like 'The Pharcyde' and 'A Tribe Called Quest'.
Early Career and Collaboration with Kanye West
At the age of 20, Cudi traveled to Brooklyn, New York, determined to achieve success in the music industry. He gained attention with his debut mixtape, 'A Kid Named Cudi', catching the eye of prominent producer and rapper Kanye West. This led to Cudi signing a contract with West's label, 'Good Music'.
